Present law provides the form that a search warrant must substantially conform to in this state. This bill adds that the warrant must include the telephone number or contact information of the law enforcement agency that issued the warrant.
Present law provides that an arrest warrant should (i) specify the name of the defendant, if known, and by any name if unknown; (ii) state the offense either by name, or so that it can be clearly inferred; (iii) show, in some part, the county in which issued, the name and initials of the magistrate in office; and (iv) include a copy of the affidavit of complaint. This bill adds that the arrest warrant must include the telephone number or contact information of the law enforcement agency that issued the warrant.
This bill applies to warrants issued on or after July 1, 2024.
