Present law prohibits a pharmacy from selling, and a person from purchasing, products containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine base, or their salts, isomers or salts of isomers to the same person in an amount more than (i) 5.76 grams in any period of 30 consecutive days; or (ii) 28.8 grams in any one-year period. This bill amends this provision by removing (ii) and increasing (i) to 7.2 grams in any period of 30 consecutive days.
ON APRIL 10, 2024, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2048, AS AMENDED.
AMENDMENT #1 makes the following changes:
(1) Prohibits a pharmacy from selling products containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine base, or their salts, isomers, or salts of isomers to the same person in an amount more than 43.2 grams in any one-year period; and
(2) Prohibits a person from purchasing products containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine base, or their salts, isomers, or salts of isomers in an amount more than 43.2 grams in any one-year period.
