This bill provides that a parent or guardian of a child under 18 commits a Class A misdemeanor if they knowingly allow the child to be under the care or supervision of a person who is a sexual offender and required to register as a sexual offender or allows the child to be unaccompanied with a person who is required to register as a sexual offender. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by a term of imprisonment of not more than 11 months, 29 days, a fine not more than $2,500, or both.
However, this bill does not apply in situations where the offender is the parent of a minor and is authorized to reside, conduct an overnight visit, or be alone with that particular minor.
