ON FEBRUARY 29, 2024, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1. HOUSE BILL 1719, AS AMENDED, WAS HELD ON THE CLERK'S DESK.
AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to, instead, prohibit a magistrate from considering a defendant's ability to pay when determining the amount of bail necessary to reasonably assure the appearance of the defendant while at the same time protecting the safety of the public.
