A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Dr. Benjamin "Ben"
Matthew Mauck.
WHEREAS, the members of this legislative body were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Benjamin "Ben" Matthew Mauck; and WHEREAS, Dr. Benjamin Mauck was an exemplary public servant and consummate medical professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens and his community in numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, the son of Ann and Gregory Mauck, Dr. Benjamin Mauck was born on April
11, 1980, in Covington, Virginia, and grew up in West Tennessee; and WHEREAS, he attended Hardin County High School in Savannah, where he was a star basketball player and helped lead his team to become one of the highest-ranked in the State; he made the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association All-Star basketball team in 1998
and earned a basketball scholarship to Western Kentucky University; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mauck graduated from Lambuth University in 2002 and went on to complete his Doctorate of Medicine degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center; and WHEREAS, his postdoctoral studies included an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Campbell Clinic in Memphis and a hand surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio; and WHEREAS, a highly respected member of the medical profession, Dr. Benjamin Mauck was a member of the Memphis Medical Society and was certified by the American Board of
Orthopaedic Surgery; additionally, he held a Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand;

WHEREAS, in 2012, he joined the staff at Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics in Memphis and concurrently served as director of the Congenital Hand Deformities Clinic at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital; and WHEREAS, deeply devoted to his family, Dr. Mauck was most proud of his role as a father and always endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Dr. Benjamin Mauck will be sadly mourned but fondly remembered by his college sweetheart and beloved wife of sixteen years, Rhiannon; his two young children; his siblings, Samuel "Sam" Mauck, Rebecca "Becky" Gentry, and Amanda Mauck; and a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, friends, classmates, and colleagues; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin F. and Florence Mauck and George and Frances Hession; and WHEREAS, a compassionate and gentle soul, Dr. Benjamin Mauck was an
exceptionally gifted physician and surgeon with an innate ability to help his patients feel at ease,
ultimately aiding the lives of countless children and patients in his community; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mauck leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should pause to
remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and gentleman; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor the memory of Dr. Benjamin "Ben" Matthew Mauck, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Dr. Mauck.
