His leadership has garnered national recognition for Franklin's Civil War battlefield reclamation efforts and has facilitated significant fundraising and grant acquisition for these initiatives.
In addition to his preservation work, Bacon has served as an elected member of Franklin's Board of Mayor and Aldermen, participated in the city's planning commission, and contributed to the founding of key community organizations such as Franklin Tomorrow and the Franklin Transit Authority. His efforts have led to the acquisition of important land parcels for public use, including parks and historical sites. Bacon's dedication has been recognized through numerous awards, reflecting his immeasurable impact on the community.
