SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 166

A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Doran Johnson to
the advisory board for the University of
Tennessee Southern.
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, established advisory boards for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; University of Tennessee at Martin; University of
Tennessee at Chattanooga; University of Tennessee Health Science Center; and University of
Tennessee Southern; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that the governor shall appoint five members to each advisory board; and WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Doran Johnson to serve as a member of
the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Southern for a term that expires on June 30,
2025; and WHEREAS, a highly successful businessman, Doran Johnson was employed at NHC in Murfreesboro for forty-nine years and was eventually named senior vice president; he has served on a number of boards and committees, including the board of directors for Hillside Hospital and the board for Martin Methodist College, where he additionally served as chair of
the board and property committee as well as the academics and finance committee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that each member appointed by the governor to the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Southern shall be confirmed by the general assembly; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of Doran Johnson to the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Southern for a term that expires on June 30, 2025.
