Present law defines "transportation network company" to mean an entity operating in this state that uses a digital network to connect transportation network company riders to transportation network company drivers who provide prearranged rides. Present law specifies various duties that a transportation network must comply with. This bill adds a requirement that transportation network companies must require their drivers to maintain an illuminated sign, or a sticker in a standard position, on the driver's vehicle that clearly indicates that the vehicle is being used for prearranged rides for the company. A transportation network company that violates this bill's requirement will be subject to a civil penalty of $250 per violation.
