A RESOLUTION to honor Jamey Chadwell upon his many accomplishments in college football.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing a Tennessee native who, through hard work and perseverance, has risen to the acme of his profession; and WHEREAS, Jamey Chadwell, a native of Caryville, has distinguished himself as one of
the finest minds in college football, most recently as the head coach of the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers; and WHEREAS, a dynamic athlete, Jamey Chadwell played quarterback for East Tennessee State University from 1995 to 1999; after his playing career ended, he served as an offensive assistant coach at his alma mater for three seasons; and WHEREAS, Coach Chadwell then served in a similar position with Charleston Southern University between 2004 and 2008 before being hired as the head football coach at North Greenville University in 2009; and WHEREAS, during this three-year tenure at North Greenville, he posted a 22-14 record while leading the Crusaders to the promised land with a win over Campbellsville University in
the Victory Bowl and the school's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs, in which the 2011 Crusaders claimed impressive victories in the first and second rounds before bowing out in the quarterfinals; and WHEREAS, after serving one year as the head football coach at Delta State University,
Jamey Chadwell returned to Charleston Southern in 2013 to become the Buccaneers' third-ever head football coach; and HJR0860

WHEREAS, he enjoyed great success at Charleston Southern, posting a 35-14 overall record and 16-5 Big South Conference record during his four-year tenure there; and WHEREAS, under Coach Chadwell's adept tutelage, the Buccaneers won the Big South Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I playoffs in 2015 and earned another playoff berth in 2016; and WHEREAS, in 2017, Jamey Chadwell assumed the duties of offensive coordinator at
Coastal Carolina and also served as the interim head coach that season due to the head coach taking a medical leave of absence; and WHEREAS, he became Coastal Carolina's third-ever head football coach for the 2019
season, and since that time he has established himself as one of the best coaches in the college game; and WHEREAS, Coach Chadwell and the Chanticleers really hit their stride in 2020, as the team posted an 11-1 overall record and an undefeated conference record, won the Sun Belt Conference title, earned a trip to the Cure Bowl, and finished the season ranked 14th in both polls; and WHEREAS, Jamey Chadwell was deservedly named 2020 Associated Press College Coach of the Year in recognition of his team's outstanding season; this marked the first time a Sun Belt Conference coach had ever received the award and only the third time a coach from outside the Power Five conferences had done so; and WHEREAS, he also was honored as the Walter Camp Coach of the Year, Home Depot Coach of the Year, Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, and Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year and received the George Munger Award in that same year; and WHEREAS, in 2021, Coach Chadwell and the Chanticleers continued their dominance on the gridiron with an 11-2 overall record and 6-2 conference mark and a victory in the Cure Bowl against Northern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, after already posting 90 wins in his college coaching career, Jamey Chadwell stands poised for another brilliant campaign in 2022; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
TWELFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor Coach Jamey Chadwell of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers upon his many accomplishments as a player and coach in college football, congratulate him on
being named the 2020 Associated Press College Coach of the Year and winning the 2021 Cure Bowl, and wish him much continued success on the gridiron and in life.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
