SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 972

A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Charles Brantley Kinch,
Jr., of Johnson City.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
the passing of Charles Brantley "C.B." Kinch, Jr.; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kinch was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, born on February 21, 1943, Mr. Kinch was the son of the late Charles Brantley Kinch, Sr., and Lora Wilson Kinch of Johnson City and a graduate of East Tennessee State University; and WHEREAS, an employee of the Knoxville News Sentinel, Mr. Kinch was also the owner of Volunteer Termite and Pest Control and Tri-State Equipment and Sales; and WHEREAS, a founding member of the Science Hill Sports Club, Mr. Kinch helped to
organize and support the school's athletic programs and was an active member of the Science Hill School Class of 1962; he was a member of the Take it to the Topp Committee and worked as a member of the Kermit Tipton Foundation; and WHEREAS, an avid fisherman and member of the Tri-Cities Bass Club, Mr. Kinch was involved in persuading Johnson City to construct a boat launch at Winged Deer Park, which was named Kinch Landing in honor of him, and WHEREAS, Mr. Kinch served faithfully on numerous Johnson City and Washington County boards, including the Johnson City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Washington County Board of Commissioners, County Election Committee, and County Work Release Committee; he was a Johnson City Parks and Recreation 1999 Wall of Fame inductee; and SJR0972

WHEREAS, Mr. Kinch was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and WHEREAS, he will be fondly remembered but sadly mourned by his four children, Lori Kinch (Glenn) Rosenoff, Ray (Kim) Kinch, Brantley (Heidi) Kinch, and Justin (Laura Beth) Kinch;
his sister, Lora Kay Keller, and her children, Ric, Jack, and Karen; his grandchildren, Riley Rosenoff, Jacob Kinch, Hayden Kinch, Jade Kinch, Olin Kinch, Carter Kinch, Anna Kate Kinch,
and Tyler Kinch; his great-grandchildren, Grayson Rosenoff and Waylon Rosenoff; and many cherished friends; and WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Mr. Kinch was preceded in death by his wife,
Sherry Thompson Kinch; and WHEREAS, C.B. Kinch leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should pause to remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED TWELFTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Charles Brantley Kinch, Jr., reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Kinch.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
