A RESOLUTION to honor Bob Hearn on winning the 2021 Last Annual Vol State Road Race and being named
"King of the Road."
WHEREAS, from time to time, the members of this General Assembly recognize those individuals whose dedication, perseverance, and commitment in the pursuit of their goals make them exemplars of the qualities treasured by the citizenry of this State; and WHEREAS, Bob Hearn of Portola Valley, California, is one such individual, whose singular ability to run exceptionally long distances has garnered him recognition as "King of the Road"; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hearn earned the coveted title by winning the 2021 Last Annual Vol State Road Race, a grueling race of 314 miles (500 kilometers) originating in Dorena Landing,
Missouri, covering 291 miles of Tennessee's scenic highways and byways, and culminating in
Castle Rock, Georgia; and WHEREAS, Bob Hearn crossed the finish line after 3 days, 4 hours, 9 minutes, and 10
seconds, the fastest time in race history, thus eclipsing the efforts of the other 78 finishers and capturing the overall victory; and WHEREAS, Bob Hearn is a leader in the elite group of ultra-marathoners, runners who compete in races longer than the 26.2 miles of a standard marathon, and his ability, dedication,
rarefied talent, and perseverance in the face of overwhelming difficulties are worthy of the recognition of this General Assembly; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
TWELFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Bob Hearn on winning the 2021 Last Annual HJR0670

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
