SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1221

A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Mary Lee Farris Frye of
Henderson.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
the passing of Mary Lee Farris Frye; and WHEREAS, Mary Lee Frye was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for her fellow citizens in
numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, born in the Montezuma community of Chester County, Mary Lee Farris Frye was the daughter of William Lee and Lela Hall Farris; and WHEREAS, a dedicated and hard-working woman, Mrs. Frye served in many positions over the years; she worked at Salant and Salant for thirteen years, and she served in the cafeteria at West Chester Elementary School for eleven years; she assisted her son and husband at their business, Frye's Carquest Auto Parts for thirteen years, and in her retirement,
she continued to work on a part-time basis at Simmons Lumber Company for twenty-three years; and WHEREAS, she evinced her religious faith as an active and devout member of the Faith Fellowship Church; and WHEREAS, in her leisure time, she loved gardening, cooking, and riding her four-
wheeler and golf cart; she especially loved her companion of thirteen years, her faithful dog,
Mac; and WHEREAS, a beloved member of her community, Mrs. Frye was affectionately known by many as "Mama Frye"; she never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a smile or
a helping hand to anyone in need; and SJR1221

WHEREAS, Mrs. Frye was also deeply devoted to her family, and she always endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Frye will be lovingly remembered by her husband of seventy-two years, Reverend Troy Frye; her children, Janice Carroll, Ken Frye, and Keith Frye; her grandchildren, Darren Smith, Blake Carroll, Emily Henderson, Adam Frye, Lauren Muckelvaney,
Jana Menzie, and Seth Frye; her great-grandchildren, Chase Smith, Cason Smith, Taylor Carroll, Maddie Carroll, Tori Ann Frye, Quinn Frye, Eli Smith, and Ledger Muckelvaney; her great-great-grandson, Wyatt Rivers Weeden; her brother, Larry Farris; her sister, Virginia Rowland; and a host of family and friends; and WHEREAS, Mary Lee Frye leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all her chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED ELEVENTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Mary Lee Farris Frye, reflecting fondly upon her impeccable character and her stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mrs. Frye.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
