In South Dakota, the YMCA has a strong presence, with its first location opening in Dupree in 1879. The Alliance of South Dakota YMCAs operates in various cities, serving nearly the entire state, including rural and tribal communities. With a dedicated workforce of over 1,274 staff members and 1,000 volunteers, the YMCA delivers programs that benefit more than 43,000 youth and adults statewide. The resolution expresses the Legislature's appreciation for the YMCA's contributions to the well-being and development of communities in South Dakota and congratulates the organization on its significant milestone.
