This bill establishes the Capitol Restoration Fund, which will be managed by the Bureau of Human Resources and Administration. The fund is specifically designated for the restoration, renovation, and improvement of the state capitol building. To initiate this fund, the state treasurer is required to transfer $1,100,000 from the existing public buildings fund. Expenditures from the Capitol Restoration Fund will require special appropriations from the Legislature, and any interest accrued on the fund's balance will remain within the fund.
Additionally, the bill specifies that a new section will be added to chapter 5-15 to formalize the creation of the Capitol Restoration Fund. The effective date for this Act is set for June 29, 2026.
