This bill amends South Dakota law to enhance the public notice requirements for meetings held by political subdivisions. It mandates that each political subdivision must provide public notice of a scheduled meeting by posting a visible, readable, and accessible copy of the proposed agenda and any financial report to be voted upon at their principal office and on their website, if one exists, for at least twenty-four hours prior to the meeting. The proposed agenda must include the date, time, and location of the meeting. Additionally, if there is a material error in the posted agenda or financial report, a corrected document must be posted at least twenty-four hours before the meeting.

The bill also specifies that for special or rescheduled meetings, the notice must be delivered to local news media who have requested it, and political subdivisions must comply with the public notice provisions to the extent possible. A violation of these requirements is classified as a Class 2 misdemeanor. The bill defines "material error" as an error that could mislead the public regarding key details of the meeting or the content of any attachments or financial reports.
