The bill establishes the Indian Medicaid Managed Care Model taskforce in South Dakota, tasked with studying the creation of Indian Medicaid managed care entities as defined in federal law. The taskforce will consist of representatives from each federally recognized Indian tribe in the state, various state department secretaries or their designees, members of the state legislature, a representative from the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs, and additional members representing healthcare providers and administrators. The taskforce will be responsible for seeking input from relevant stakeholders and will report its findings and recommendations to the Governor by December 1, 2028.

The Department of Social Services is designated to provide administrative support to the taskforce, which will also have the authority to fill any vacancies in its membership through the same appointment process as the original members. The taskforce will select its own chair and vice chair during its initial meeting, ensuring a structured approach to its operations and objectives.
