The bill establishes the Indian Medicaid Managed Care Model taskforce in South Dakota, tasked with studying the creation of Indian Medicaid managed care entities as defined in federal law. The taskforce will consist of representatives from each federally recognized Indian tribe in the state, various state department secretaries or their designees, members of the state legislature, a representative from the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs, and additional members appointed by the Executive Board of the Legislative Research Council, including healthcare providers and administrators. The taskforce is required to seek input from relevant stakeholders and will report its findings and recommendations to the Governor by December 1, 2028.

Additionally, the bill specifies that the Department of Health will provide administrative support to the taskforce and outlines the process for filling any vacancies. The taskforce will select its chair and vice chair during the initial meeting. The Act is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
