This legislative commemoration recognizes Madison High School wrestling coach Chris Waba for achieving his historic three hundredth dual win. Coach Waba, who has been a prominent figure in wrestling for forty years, began his coaching career in 1986 at Madison Junior High School and has served as the head coach at Madison High School since 1999. Under his leadership, the team reached this milestone victory on January 4, 2025, during a triangular meet with Dell Rapids and Vermillion.
Throughout his coaching tenure, Coach Waba has significantly impacted the sport, guiding eighty-two wrestlers to South Dakota state tournaments and leading six of them to become state champions. The commemoration serves to honor his dedication and contributions to the wrestling community in South Dakota, as recognized by the One Hundredth Legislature of the State of South Dakota.
