This bill mandates that all school districts in South Dakota include human growth and development as part of their health curriculum starting in grade three. The curriculum must incorporate various teaching methods, such as oral, written, or digital lessons, as well as lectures or presentations, to convey information about human biology related to pregnancy and fetal development.
Specifically, the curriculum is required to include two key components: a high-definition ultrasound video lasting at least three minutes that illustrates the development of the brain, heart, sex organs, and other vital organs of the fetus, and a video that depicts the process of fertilization and the stages of human development in the uterus, from cell growth to organ development until birth.
