A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Celebrating the success of the Mitchell Show Choir, Friend de Coup, at the Southwest Showdown competition.

WHEREAS, on February 3, 2024, the Mitchell Show Choir, Friend de Coup, competed at the Southwest Showdown in Lincoln, Nebraska, and earned a first runner-up award, as well as the Barn Burner Award, and a best vocalist award; and

WHEREAS, Friend de Coup, which was established in 1984, has a long history of success in local, regional, and national competitions; and

WHEREAS, the accolades earned by Friend de Coup during the Southwest Showdown and during the past four decades are attributable to the incredible vocal talent of each member, to the endless insistence on precision exhibited by those involved in the choir's direction and choreography, and to the unwavering support of parents, boosters, and the Mitchell community:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-Ninth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the first runner-up award earned by the Mitchell Show Choir, Friend de Coup, exemplifies the hard-work and dedication of each choir member and those who lead and support the choir, and warrants our sincerest admiration, appreciation, and congratulations.
