A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Honoring the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks for winning the State A gymnastics title two years in a row.

WHEREAS, the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks won the State A gymnastics title on February 9, 2024, with a team score of 142.596, or nearly four points ahead of their nearest competitor; and

WHEREAS, it is the second year in a row that Estelline/Hendricks has won the State A gymnastics title; and

WHEREAS, Estelline/Hendricks senior Sadie Johnson also repeated as the State A all-around champion, winning the vault, balance beam, and floor exercise, and placing third in the bars, thus accumulating a total score of 37.982; and

WHEREAS, Portia Trias placed second in bars and fourth in beam; Jaylee Berwald placed sixth in beam; and Kenzy Beare placed sixth in vault; and

WHEREAS, the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks team that competed at the state tournament was made up of Kenzy Beare, Jaylee Berwald, Ellie Cruz, Payge Ebbers, Lita Fryer, Maggie Hausman, Sadie Johnson, Sierra Kreger, Jadyn Mack, and Portia Trias; managers Olivia Gilbertson and Ada Hartung; and coaches Sherri Johnson, Angie Scotting, and Greta Johnson:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-Ninth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawkseserves honor for a notable achievement in South Dakota athletics for 2023 and 2024 and for providing an outstanding example of the competitive spirit.
