An Act to permit the use of campaign contributions for child day care services.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:
Section 1. That 12-27-50 be AMENDED:
12-27-50. Contributions received by a candidate campaign committee may only be used for:
(1) A purpose related to a candidate's campaign;
(2) Expenses incident to being a
public official or former public official;
or
(3) Donations to any other candidate, political committee, or nonprofit charitable organization; or
(4) Day care services for a dependent child of the candidate for public office.
For the purposes of this section, the term, day care services, means the care and supervision of children by person or agency licensed as a day care center, group family day care home, or after school day care program under chapter 26-6 or by a family day care as defined under chapter 26-6.
