An Act to exempt one motor vehicle of a debtor from being taken by legal process.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

Section 1. That chapter 43-45 be amended with a NEW SECTION:

For purposes of this chapter, the value of one motor vehicle, not to exceed five thousand dollars over any security interest on the motor vehicle, is exempt for each debtor. The total value of exempt property selected by the debtor under this section and   43-45-4 may be combined.
