A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Recognizing the Mitchell Friends of NRA as the largest Friends of NRA chapter in the state and celebrating the chapter's significant support of gun safety classes, hunter education courses, and youth shooting sports.
WHEREAS, the Friends of NRA is a fundraising program under the NRA Foundation, with the mission of preserving the core of American values and traditions in a steadfast effort to teach freedom. The NRA Foundation supports activities that are designed to promote firearms and hunting safety, enhance marksmanship skills of those participating in shooting sports, and educate the public about firearms. Funds disbursed by the NRA Foundation benefit a variety of constituencies throughout the United States, including youth, women, individuals with physical disabilities, gun collectors, law enforcement officers, hunters, competitive shooters, military veterans, and first responders; and
WHEREAS, the Mitchell Friends of NRA chapter is the largest chapter in South Dakota. The Mitchell chapter continually breaks its record for fundraising year after year through the dedicated work of its members, board, and volunteers. The chapter provides important support for gun safety classes, hunter education courses, and youth shooting sports; and
WHEREAS, the Mitchell Friends of NRA chapter continues to deliver on its mission by working with area organizations and the community to support robust recreational opportunities across the state and to increase awareness and support of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-Ninth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the Mitchell Friends of NRA chapter is the largest Friends of NRA chapter in the state, and the Legislature recognizes its tremendous efforts to further charitable fundraising to support gun safety classes, hunter education courses, and youth shooting sports.
