An Act to expand postpartum medicaid coverage.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

Section 1. That chapter 28-6 be amended with a NEW SECTION:

The Department of Social Services shall submit a state plan amendment, no later than September 1, 2023, to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to extend medicaid postpartum coverage to twelve months, beginning on the last day of an individual's pregnancy and ending on the last day of the month in which the twelve-month period ends, as authorized by 42 U.S.C.   1396a(e), as of March 15, 2022.
