A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Commending Grady Kane for his outstanding accomplishments in the sport of archery.

WHEREAS, Grady Kane, an eighth grader at Madison Middle School, began archery at the end of 2019 and has quickly become one of the top competitors in the sport. Kane picked up his first bow right before the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly realized his natural gift for the sport. Kane practices for at least two hours every night, even after long days of school and homework; and

WHEREAS, Kane holds the state archery record for males ages eleven through fourteen. Kane also brought home seven hundred fifty dollars of prize money for second place at The Vegas Shoot, the world's largest indoor archery tournament held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Kane won the 3-D State Tournament and broke the state record in both divisions he entered. He also won the USA Indoor Target Nationals and placed second at the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Indoor Nationals. Last summer at the JOAD Outdoor Nationals in Iowa, Kane won both qualifications and eliminations, shooting two points off of a perfect score and shooting seventy-two arrows for qualifications. He then went on to the Iowa Pro Am. At fourteen years old, Kane is the only amateur to shoot a perfect round at the Iowa Pro Am:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-Seventh Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that Grady Kane of Madison Middle School be commended for his dedication, leadership, and hard work in the sport of archery, and for his outstanding, record-breaking accomplishments.
