The South Carolina Senate has adopted a resolution to recognize and honor Rudy Socha for his significant contributions to environmental conservation through his work with Wounded Nature-Working Veterans. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a Master Captain in the United States Coast Guard, Mr. Socha founded this national nonprofit organization, which focuses on restoring and protecting coastal habitats by removing debris and abandoned vessels while engaging veterans and local communities in environmental service. Under his leadership, the organization has successfully removed nearly 250 derelict vessels and various types of marine debris from South Carolina's coastal waterways, addressing serious environmental hazards that threaten marine life and water quality.

Additionally, Wounded Nature-Working Veterans has been involved in oyster bed restoration efforts, collaborating with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to establish over 300 oyster beds, which are crucial for rebuilding marine ecosystems. Mr. Socha has also formed partnerships with local law enforcement, tour boat operators, and businesses to enhance the organization's impact. The resolution expresses the Senate's appreciation for Mr. Socha's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of coastal habitats and supporting local communities, ultimately enhancing tourism and seafood stocks in the state. A copy of the resolution will be presented to Mr. Socha in recognition of his service.
