The South Carolina Senate has adopted a resolution to recognize and honor the Leslie M. Stover Middle School wrestling team, along with their coaches and school officials, for their outstanding performance during the 2025-2026 season, culminating in their victory at the 2026 South Carolina State Championship. The team, which boasts a remarkable 16-1 dual record, showcased exceptional skills and dedication, leading to the achievement of three state finalists and two most outstanding wrestlers. Notably, the team made history as the only two-time girls state champion, with eighth grader Madelyn Ross being named the most outstanding wrestler in her weight class.
The resolution highlights the contributions of Head Coach Lorenzo McGee and his assistants, who instilled valuable life principles in the athletes while fostering a championship-caliber team. The Senate expresses appreciation for the pride and recognition the Stover grapplers have brought to their school and community, and looks forward to their future accomplishments. A copy of the resolution will be presented to Dr. Luvenia Zimmer, the principal, and Coach Lorenzo McGee.
