The South Carolina Senate has adopted a resolution to honor Emily Cummings Cope on the occasion of her retirement from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR). Emily, a Clemson University alumna, has held various roles within SCDNR, including serving as the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Deputy Director from November 2011 until her retirement in May 2025. Her leadership and commitment to conservation have been acknowledged through numerous awards, including the United States Forest Service Excellence Award.

In addition to her professional achievements, Emily has been an active civic leader, participating on several boards and commissions, such as the Recreational Boating and Fishing Alliance and the National Conservation Leadership Institute.
