The South Carolina Senate has adopted a resolution to congratulate the Walhalla High School girls basketball team for their remarkable achievement in winning the 2025 Class AAA State Championship title. This victory, which took place on March 6, 2025, at the Florence Civic Center, marks the first state championship title in the history of the Walhalla High School girls basketball program. The team finished the season with an impressive 24-3 record, defeating Dillon High School in the championship game with a score of 52-37. Key players in this victory included junior forward Miley White, who led the team in points and rebounds, along with contributions from senior guard Annie Campbell, junior guard Kami Roach, and senior forward G.G. Ortiz.
The resolution also highlights the individual accomplishments of team members, such as Kami Roach being named Class AAA Player of the Year and earning All-State honors for the third time, while G.G. Ortiz was recognized as an All-State honoree and North-South All-Star. The team has thrived under the leadership of Head Coach Byron Wimphrie, and the Senate expresses appreciation for the pride and recognition the team has brought to their school and community. A copy of the resolution will be presented to the team members, Coach Wimphrie, and Principal Jennifer Crawford to commemorate their success.
