The South Carolina Senate has introduced a resolution to recognize and honor AFL, a manufacturing company that has significantly contributed to the state's manufacturing landscape. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Duncan, AFL specializes in producing Ultra HD MicroCore SpiderWeb Ribbon (SWR) Fiber Optic Cable, which is essential for high-density fiber deployments. The company employs approximately 1,500 associates across seven facilities in Spartanburg County and has recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, announcing a $155 million investment to expand its operations in South Carolina. AFL's production capabilities are impressive, with enough fiber optic cable produced in the past year to stretch from Duncan to Tokyo, Japan.

In addition to its manufacturing achievements, AFL is recognized for its strong commitment to corporate citizenship, engaging in various philanthropic efforts, including volunteer initiatives and community grants. The company has established a foundation with an initial investment of $10 million to enhance its community impact. AFL's contributions have earned it a nomination in the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance's 2025 Manufacturing Madness contest, where it stood out among over 150 products. The resolution expresses the Senate's appreciation for AFL's dedication to serving the people and the state of South Carolina, and a copy of the resolution will be presented to AFL's president and CEO, Jaxon Lang, and the leadership team.
