The South Carolina Senate has introduced a resolution to recognize and honor SkillsUSA for its significant contributions to developing a skilled workforce in America. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit educational association that supports students in middle and high schools, as well as post-secondary institutions, by preparing them for careers in various trade, technical, and skilled service occupations. The organization serves over three hundred thousand students and instructors annually and has been acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Labor as a successful model for employer-driven workforce development.
In light of SkillsUSA's impactful work, the resolution declares February 2-8, 2025, as "SkillsUSA Week" in South Carolina. This week is intended to raise awareness about SkillsUSA and provide opportunities for state associations, advisors, and student members to promote the organization's programs and activities at both local and state levels. The South Carolina Senate encourages all residents to learn more about SkillsUSA and its role in preparing a skilled workforce.
