VERSIONS OF THIS BILL

A concurrent RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AFL ON THE OCCASION OF ITS FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY AND TO WISH THE COMPANY MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

Whereas, AFL was founded on November 2, 1984, with its initial manufacturing facility located in Spartanburg; and

Whereas, while the company was formed primarily to manufacture optical ground wire, it quickly grew to an international company, providing industry-leading products and services to the electric utility, broadband, data center, communications, OEM, enterprise, wireless, and transit rail markets, as well as oil and gas, mining, nuclear, avionics, renewable, and intelligent grid; and

Whereas, having relocated its corporate headquarters to Spartanburg County in 2005, AFL currently operates six manufacturing plants in the State; and

Whereas, AFL manufactures a diverse portfolio of products, including fiber-optic cable, transmission and substation accessories, outside plant equipment, connectors, fusion splicers, data center solutions, and test equipment; and

Whereas, since its founding, AFL has expanded its products into dozens of markets across the globe that serve electric utility, broadband, communications, transportation, and many more industries that rely on innovative solutions for connectivity; and

Whereas, AFL has operations in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia and today employs more than 6,300 highly skilled associates worldwide, with more than 1,300 in Spartanburg County; and

Whereas, an exemplary corporate citizen, AFL makes a positive difference in many communities through leadership in statewide organizations, volunteer projects, annual giving campaigns, and a robust grants and sponsorships program for philanthropic services that align with AFL's culture and company values; and

Whereas, AFL is one of the world's most respected, creative, versatile, and robust manufacturers of connectivity products in the world and has been effectively connecting the world from its South Carolina home since 1984. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate AFL on the occasion of its fortieth anniversary and wish the company much continued success in the years ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to AFL.
