A house RESOLUTION

 

TO HONOR DR. CHRIS MASTERS, SENIOR PASTOR OF SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH IN AIKEN, FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF MINISTRY, TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, AND TO WISH HIM THE LORD'S RICHEST BLESSINGS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

 

Whereas, it is entirely appropriate to honor those individuals who give selflessly of themselves to nurture the souls of men. Dr. Chris Masters, senior pastor of Aiken's Shiloh Baptist Church, stands high as an outstanding minister of the gospel, one greatly respected by his colleagues, congregation, and community; and

 

Whereas, Dr. Chris Masters became senior pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church on August 14, 2016. In preparation for his life's work, he earned his bachelor's degree in religion at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina, followed by a master's degree in ministry from Gardner-Webb University School of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in biblical counseling from Covington Theological Seminary; and

 

Whereas, Dr. Masters serves as a consultant for the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is associate dean and professor of New Testament at Covington Theological Seminary-Aiken. Over the course of his ministry, he has served numerous churches in North Carolina and South Carolina as minister of music, minister of youth, minister of senior adults, pastoral counselor, and senior pastor; and

 

Whereas, further, this multi-gifted, missions-minded pastor has led youth mission trips, and prior to entering the ministry was lead singer for the Landmark Quartet. Later, he began serving as a soloist for revivals and Bible conferences; and

 

Whereas, Pastor Chris considers it one of the greatest triumphs of his life that he was able to persuade the lovely Areshia Masters to become his wife. He finds strength for his duties in her firm support; and

 

Whereas, cognizant of his many years of spiritual shepherding of the people of this great State, the House takes great pleasure in expressing grateful thanks to Dr. Masters and in wishing him God's best as he continues to run the race the Lord has set before him. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Dr. Chris Masters, senior pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Aiken, for his many years of ministry, congratulate him on the occasion of his retirement, and wish him the Lord's richest blessings in the days ahead.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Chris Masters.
