The bill amends Section 31-6-8 of the General Laws in Chapter 31-6, which pertains to registration fees for disabled veterans. It establishes that any veteran who has been honorably discharged and has suffered significant injuries or disabilities related to their service may be issued "Disabled Veteran" registration plates for their motor vehicles.

The bill allows for the transfer of these "Disabled Veteran" plates to the veteran's spouse upon certification that the veteran is no longer able to operate a vehicle. Additionally, upon the death of the initial registrant of the plates, the spouse may retain the plates for their lifetime or until they remarry. The bill clarifies that only one set of "Disabled Veteran" plates will be issued to an eligible veteran or their spouse, contingent upon the presentation of satisfactory documentation of eligibility from the Veterans Administration.

This act would take effect upon passage.
