The bill amends the Rhode Island Life Science Hub Act and the I-195 Redevelopment Act of 2011, primarily restructuring the governance of the Rhode Island Life Science Hub. It establishes the hub as an independent public corporation with a board of directors expanded from sixteen to seventeen members. This board will consist of fifteen directors appointed by the governor, one of whom will be the chairperson of the I-195 redevelopment district commission, while the president and chief executive officer of the hub will serve as a non-voting member. The chairperson of the I-195 redevelopment district commission will also serve ex officio and will not be a voting member of the board of directors.

Additionally, the bill modifies the I-195 redevelopment district commission by increasing the number of ex officio, non-voting members from two to three, incorporating the chair of the Rhode Island Life Science Hub. The act provides for additional amendments to the powers and duties of the commission. It will take effect upon passage.
