The bill amends Chapter 45-6 of the General Laws by adding a new section, 45-6-13, which authorizes the city of East Providence to issue and revoke licenses for individuals or business entities seeking to operate hotels, motels, inns, boardinghouses, or catering establishments. The city is empowered to establish reasonable fees for the issuance and revocation of these licenses and to promulgate reasonable rules and regulations regarding their duration, location, number, and operation within the city. Prior to the issuance of a license by the city clerk, applicants must obtain approval from the chief of police, the building inspector, and the mayor. This legislation will take effect upon passage.
