It notes the successful management of the quahog fishery, which has seen a recent increase in shellfishing areas due to water quality improvements, and emphasizes the dedication of local harvesters who provide fresh quahogs to consumers.

"Quahog Week 2026" will feature various restaurants and markets across the state offering quahog-based specials and special events to celebrate this iconic clam. The resolution encourages all Rhode Islanders to support the local seafood industry by participating in the week-long celebration and enjoying fresh quahogs throughout the year. The House of Representatives also plans to send certified copies of the resolution to the Rhode Island Seafood Marketing Collaborative and the Rhode Island Shellfishermen's Association to acknowledge their efforts in promoting this event.

Introduced by Representatives Bennett, Blazejewski, Kazarian, and Chippendale, the resolution was introduced on May 21 and has been referred to the House, where it has been read and passed.
