The Rhode Island Senate has introduced a resolution celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Rhode Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (RIHCC), which has been instrumental in supporting Latino entrepreneurs and underserved business communities since its establishment in 2016. Under the leadership of Oscar Mejias, the RIHCC has grown to over 1,150 members and has provided vital resources, training, and support to more than 3,500 businesses, particularly during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization has focused on economic development, financial inclusion, and community empowerment, helping to create and retain over 500 jobs while facilitating access to capital for small businesses.

The resolution highlights the RIHCC's significant contributions to Rhode Island's economy by promoting the visibility of Latino-owned businesses and fostering connections with financial institutions and government entities. The Chamber has also been proactive in addressing community needs, especially during crises, by offering culturally appropriate support and resources to Spanish-speaking and bilingual business owners. The Senate resolution expresses heartfelt congratulations to the RIHCC on this milestone and directs the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of the resolution to Oscar Mejias.
