The bill amends Section 23-1.7-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 23-1.7, which pertains to the Rhode Island Program to Address Alzheimer's Disease. It expands the requirement for medical professional training to include licensed physician assistants, in addition to licensed physicians and nurses. These professionals are now mandated to complete a minimum of one hour of instruction on the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with cognitive impairments, including Alzheimer's disease, every other renewal cycle.

Furthermore, the bill provides for exemptions from this training requirement for individuals providing care solely in pediatrics, radiology, and pathology, with such exemptions to be determined through rules promulgated by the Department of Health. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
