The House of Representatives of Rhode Island has expressed its condolences on the passing of Bernard W. George, known as Bernie, who died from pancreatic cancer after a prolonged illness. Mr. George was a lifelong Rhode Islander and devoted husband to Dawn George for 62 years. He was a respected community figure, an Eagle Scout, and a dedicated leader in the Boy Scouts for over five decades. Additionally, he served honorably in the United States Navy, where he advanced from enlisted ranks to officer, and had a successful career as a microbiologist for the State of Rhode Island.
Mr. George was a man of deep faith, actively participating in his parish as an Eucharistic Minister. He valued time spent with his family, including his sons and grandchildren, and enjoyed hobbies such as swimming, biking, and reading. The resolution concludes with a directive for the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of the resolution to Mrs. Dawn George and her family, honoring Mr. George's legacy and contributions to his community and family.
