The bill amends Section 31-19.3-5 of the General Laws concerning the regulation of rental motorized bicycles, motor scooters, and motorized tricycles in New Shoreham. It empowers the town council to establish ordinances for licensing and regulating these rentals, including setting a maximum number of licenses that may be granted, which shall not exceed five (5) for the rental of motorized bicycles, motor scooters, and/or motorized tricycles. The council is also authorized to limit the number of vehicles a license holder may rent or lease under the license, specifically not exceeding thirty-four (34) motorized bicycles, motor scooters, and/or motorized tricycles.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that the maximum number of licenses will be permanently reduced by one for each license that is voluntarily surrendered, expires without renewal, is revoked, or otherwise retired. This legislation aims to ensure better control and regulation of the rental of motorized vehicles in the town. The act will take effect upon its passage.
