The bill amends Section 45-62-7 of the General Laws in Chapter 45-62, which pertains to "Dam Management Districts." It authorizes the towns of Burrillville and Glocester to enact ordinances that exempt certain real and personal property from taxation. Specifically, the exemptions apply to property owned by a Dam Management District created pursuant to this section, limited to the lakebed and Wilsons Reservoir in Burrillville, as well as property on which any dam, spillway, and appurtenant structures related to the Wilsons Reservoir may be located. The specific lots that qualify for this exemption are identified as Burrillville assessors map 138, lot 041; map 016, lot 038; and map 156, lot 064.
Additionally, the bill mandates that in the town of Burrillville, the collection of Dam Management District fees shall be conducted in the same manner as the collection of taxes by municipalities, and the collector of these fees will have the same powers and authority as municipal tax collectors. This act will take effect upon passage.
