The bill amends Chapter 34-18 of the General Laws, known as the "Residential Landlord and Tenant Act," by adding a new section, 34-18-63, which requires landlords to provide a receipt to any tenant who makes a rental payment in cash at the time the payment is received. The receipt must include the amount of rent paid, the date of payment, the printed or typed names of both the landlord and tenant, and the name of the individual who accepted the payment. This act will take effect immediately upon passage.
