The bill amends Section 28-9.2-17 of the General Laws concerning "Municipal Police Arbitration." It introduces new language stating that provisions of an existing collective bargaining agreement shall continue until a successor agreement has been reached between the parties or an interest arbitration award has been rendered. This replaces the previous requirement that either the bargaining agent or the corporate authority must propose changes in writing within a specified thirty-day period for the provisions to continue. The act will take effect immediately upon passage.
