This bill introduces a new section, 31-27-22.1, which prohibits street takeovers, defined as illegal gatherings where individuals block roadways to perform stunts, drag races, or otherwise illegally obstruct public streets, roads, or highways while engaging in reckless vehicle operation. Engaging in street takeovers will be classified as a felony, punishable by imprisonment for more than one year and fines ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Vehicles involved in these offenses may be impounded and subject to forfeiture hearings in superior court.

Additionally, the bill amends Section 11-45-1 regarding disorderly conduct, specifying that individuals found guilty of this offense while wearing a mask or face covering shall be imprisoned for a term of not more than one year, or fined not more than $1,000, or both. The act will take effect upon passage.
