The bill amends the Rhode Island Utility Fair Share Roadway Repair Act by introducing a new section, 39-2.2-6, which mandates that any public utility company that needs to completely close any portion of a state or municipal highway to perform roadway repairs or related work must provide notice to all residential and business property owners located within one thousand feet (1,000 ft) of the road closure. This notice must be given at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled road closure. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon its passage.
