This bill amends Chapter 11-9 of the General Laws concerning children by introducing a new section that prohibits the sale of over-the-counter diet pills and dietary supplements for weight loss or muscle building to individuals under the age of eighteen. It establishes definitions for key terms such as "dietary supplement for weight loss or muscle building," "over-the-counter diet pill," "retail establishment," "delivery sale," and "delivery seller."

The bill mandates that retail establishments limit access to these products, ensuring they are not directly accessible to customers and can only be accessed by employees. Retail establishments are required to request valid identification from any purchaser who appears to be underage.

Additionally, the bill outlines the responsibilities of delivery sellers, including online retailers, who must implement age verification measures when shipping these products. This includes requiring a signature from an adult upon delivery and verifying the purchaser's age through a government database.

Violations of this section can result in civil penalties of up to one thousand dollars, and the Attorney General is empowered to seek injunctions against violators. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
