The bill amends Section 20-2-44 of the General Laws in Chapter 20-2, establishing a shellfish transplant program. It specifies that, in addition to any appropriations made pursuant to 20-2-28.2, the General Assembly shall assess and collect a fee of one cent ($0.01) for every ten thousand (10,000) gallons of effluent discharge from all wastewater treatment facilities, both public and private, starting July 1, 2026. The fees collected under this section will be used to support the shellfish transplant program. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
