The bill amends Sections 22-6-15 and 22-6-16 of the General Laws in Chapter 22-6, which pertains to "Committees and Staff." It introduces a requirement for the General Assembly to annually appropriate necessary funds to implement the provisions of the specified sections. Additionally, it establishes new transparency measures for nonprofit entities receiving funding from the General Assembly. Specifically, any nonprofit that receives grants or appropriations from the General Assembly must provide a complete and detailed list of their highest paid directors, officers, and employees, including their names, salaries, and benefits, within 90 days of receiving the funds. This includes benefits such as health insurance, retirement or pension benefits, rental cars, lodging, communication devices, and any other form of compensation. The bill also requires nonprofits to disclose any other sources of funding, including fundraising, endowments, trusts, memorial gifts, or any activities that fund the nonprofit entity. The act will take effect upon passage.
