The bill amends Chapter 45-53 of the General Laws, titled "Low and Moderate Income Housing," by adding a new section, 45-53-17, specifically addressing parking requirements for low- or moderate-income housing in the town of Johnston. Under this new provision, the town of Johnston may require two (2) parking spaces for each studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom low- or moderate-income housing unit upon the municipality's determination that there is limited or no local public transportation or off-street parking availability within a reasonable proximity to these housing units. This act will take effect upon passage.
